Headed out to Nilavelli beach which is pretty barren, perhaps just at this time of the year. This side of Srilanka is much quieter and far less crowded than the eastern/southern portions. Mainly because its got a more steep beach front and hence gets some big waves which are more conducive to surfing and most of the tourists to Srilanka are here to relax rather than being too adventurous. On the tourists, i would guess about 70% are europeans.
We met a young european couple and agreed to share a speedboat to half the cost to get across to Pigeon Island which is supposed to be ideal for snorkeling. They were pretty interested to meet Pakistanis and we were more than delighted to answer the usual types of questions about Pakistan that they had to ask. Pigeon island was pretty darn impressive to view the sealife. We only say a variety of corals and small fish including jelly fish, but the european couple a little further away supposedly saw small sharks!

The beach was pretty rocky and my wife got a big cut on her leg when she slipped over. Thankfully some srilankan navy guys were nearby how helped with stopping the bleeding and treating the wound. Would have been a big problem otherwise. Came back to the hotel and had lunch and then chilled by the pool. Had to go to a local medic, to get bandage changed and also to get medicine for the pain etc. Had a scrumptious seafood dinner by the breezy seaside to end the day.
