Srilanka - Day 4

A nice chill-out before leaving

After breakfast, on a somewhat cloudy morning (just as heavenly as the days earlier) said goodbye to the three and made our way by car to Bentota, which is about midway between Colombo and Galle. Had hired a local cabbie and we had a nice minivan of sorts to ourselves.

Very fancy Vivanta by the Taj

Did a little bit of searching before we stumbled upon the Vivanta by Taj which was undergoing a bit of renovation and hence they offered us prices that seemed nutty actually. (big $ break this one), there were some lovely views from the beach.

Life-size chess (nice!)

Went for some water-sports at a nearby place, a river boat ride through the mangroves to see some real wildlife (see baby crocodile below, some deadly eyes, side-note alligators have U-shaped mouth, V-shape for crocodile) and an exhilarating (read bumpy) tube-ride behind a speedboat. Highly recommend this stuff

Came back to the hotel and did bought 3 beautiful paintings by a student in a local university. Great gifts to give or just to use yourself. A fabulous dinner at Taj and some bubbly before retiring to bed.
